How this site makes money

Mostly, it does not. Here is the whole picture, so you never have to wonder what a recommendation is worth.

The tool is free and unconnected to any of it

Executor File is free, open source and MIT licensed. There is no paid tier, no upsell inside it, and nothing on the Get started or For executors pages is monetised in any way. Those pages carry no affiliate links and never will.

Some article links pay a commission

Articles under Learn sometimes recommend products: password managers, will-writing services, fireproof safes, books. Some of those links pay this site a commission when you buy. Three rules govern them:

• Recommendations are chosen before money is considered. We recommend what we would tell a friend to use, then check whether an affiliate programme happens to exist, in that order.
• Every page with affiliate links says so at the top, before the links, not in a footer.
• Free options are recommended alongside paying ones. Several things we recommend pay nothing: free will-writing routes, free password-manager tiers, a do-it-yourself document safe. Their presence is the point; a recommendation list with no free options on it is an advert.

A tip jar exists

There is a Buy me a coffee link in the footer. It is a tip, nothing more: it buys no features, no priority, no influence, and the tool stays free and complete whether anyone ever uses it or not. It does not appear on the recovery pages, which carry nothing commercial at all.

No display ads, ever

This site will never run display advertising. Programmatic ads around bereavement have a grim record, and a site whose core argument is that nothing here can exploit or outlive you cannot rent its pages to systems built to do both. This is policy, not a temporary state.

What that adds up to

At current traffic, coffee money. The structure exists so that the incentives are visible and right from the start, not because it funds anything. If that ever changes, this page changes with it.
